Syrian Ministry of Housing and Construction/ Syria
Project details:
The project comprises the 1st and 2nd stages of studies of upgrade and extension plan of Aleppo wastewater treatment plant for a population of 4,500,000
Project objectives:
Haleb wastewater treatment plant is aeration lagoon type with complete mixture. It was designed for a volume of 371’520m3/day (2 million people) in 1985 and has been under service since 2002. Efficiency loss due to an increase in the amount of urban wastewater (because of population growth) and entering a great deal of industrial wastewater into the treatment plant caused many problems for the user, one of which is accretion of about 800’000 m3 sludge in lagoons. Under the contract framework, consulting engineer must remove current problems of treatment plant urgently and increase the capacity of the treatment plant (by 600’000m3/day) for year 2020 using maximum capacity of existing equipment so that the produced return flow can be useable for being discharged in surface water and agricultural uses.
